About the United Snakes of America

Control a simulated wildlife disease epidemic

Welcome to this free "choose your own adventure" game. This game was originally designed by Dr. Skylar Hopkins, an assistant professor at North Carolina State University, to facilitate active learning in the classroom. Students get to apply what they've learned about general disease ecology theory and disease control strategies to control a simulated epidemic of a snake disease.

Anyone is welcome to use this activity or modify it while attributing the original design to Skylar. To play, you will need to download the associated NetLogo simulation model. To open the file and run the simulation, you will need to download NetLogo, which is a wonderful free program.  You will also need to download the background image for the simulation.  You can use Skylar's worksheet that goes along with the game or design your own. Unfortunately, Wix doesn't support all of these file types, but you can find all of the files on QUBESHub: http://dx.doi.org/10.25334/1XBQ-M835
